Summary:  Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) can be an effective financing tool for small companies.  However the program is extremely competitive – particularly in times when private financing is scarce.  This presentation is designed to provide insight into developing competitive SBIR/STTR proposals.  This presentation will provide:

·         Provide an overview of the SBIR/STTR program highlighting unique attributes of each federal agencies SBIR program

·         Identify key components of winning proposals

·         Identify common barriers to SBIR success and approaches to overcome them

·         Provide illustrative case studies that demonstrate how companies produce winning proposals.

 

Bio:  Kirk Macolini is the Founder & Principal Consultant of Centurion Technology (www.centuriontechnology.com). He has extensive experience with the SBIR and STTR programs and has developed proposals that have resulted in over 100 funded projects from agencies including DoD, NIH, NSF, NASA, DoE, NIST, ED, and FAA. Kirk has a Phase I proposal success rate that is over twice the national average. He has held technical, management, and business roles in small software and biotech firms. Kirk earned a Masters of Science and Bachelors of Science in Computer Science the University of Massachusetts at Amherst .

From Route 128 take Exit 27B (Winter Street).  At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Wyman St. At the next set of lights, turn right on Winter St. Stay in the far right lane and continue around the reservoir.  Turn left at Bay Colony Corporate Center.  Proceed to 1000 Winter Street and enter at the NORTH entrance
